Mr.
Ross
Rooms 18 & 19
2001 - 2002
This class has been designed to allow you
to experience many of the new technologies that affect your daily life.
Technology Learning Units (TLU’s) have been developed to allow you to
interact with some of these technologies. A
self-directed set of study guides is an important aspect of each TLU. Therefore,
your ability to read and follow directions is critical to your success in this class in specific and
Technology in general. It would
also be helpful if you can learn to work independently – in other words,
without constant teacher supervision. If
you are easily distracted, you will have great difficulty doing well in this
class.
The lab is one that was developed at
great expense to the District. You
will be expected to do your part to protect the equipment and help with daily
maintenance.
Your main responsibility is to read,
understand and follow classroom policies. Demerits
and/or mandatory attendance during STEN period will be assigned for failure to
follow these policies. Examples of
behaviors leading to demerits include but are not limited to:
¨
Any disruption of the teaching process
¨
Leaving assigned module area without
permission of instructor
¨
Disregarding safety rules
¨
Vandalism (ex: writing on, defacing or
damaging Kaneland property, changing computer settings, using chairs as
“scooters”, removing equipment from lab, etc.)
Under No Circumstances are you to “re-boot” or
re-start any of the computers in the lab!
Leave all personal possessions in the
main classroom before entering the lab area.
You will be assigned a lab notebook.
When you enter the classroom, go immediately to the area where the
notebooks are kept and pick up your notebook.
You are to be in your seat with your notebook when the tardy bell rings
or you will be considered tardy.
When working in your TLU, you may move
around your designated area. However,
you are not to leave your TLU area at any time unless
you have permission of your instructor.
This includes, among other things, trips to the drinking fountain,
restroom, pencil sharpener, storage rooms, etc. Leaving the classroom may be allowed on a limited basis but
not unless you have a planner! Also,
the stairs leading to the upper-level storage area and the storage area itself
are off-limits!
Absolutely no food or drink of any kind shall be
allowed in the lab area.
Demerits will be assigned for any violation of this policy.
At the end of the period, the instructor
will tell you when you may clean up your TLU area.
You will be dismissed to the classroom area, by the instructor, only
after the area is clean, all tools/materials have been put away and you are
logged off the computer.
Students will have the sole
responsibility for making up any work for excused
absences. This may be accomplished
through a meeting with the instructor. All
work shall be made up during STEN periods; there will be no exceptions to this
policy.
Students are expected to have with them on an every day basis the following items:
§
Student Planner
§
Pencil (at least one)
§
Pen (black ink)
§
Paper (notebook variety)
§
Data Disk (3.5” floppy: these may be
purchased either in the lab or the Library)
NOTE:
You are expected to store all data on your personal floppy disk.
Unless permission is specifically granted by the instructor, NO
files of any kind are to be stored on the Hard Dives in the Lab facility!
